Britt Cobbler Shoppe Re-facing

The Cobbler Shoppe in Britt is currently re-facing the front of the store. Owner Bill Eckels said it started a few days ago because the awning "was shot," so while he was replacing the awning he decided to redo the whole front. So far, the windows have been replaced with double-paned, energy-efficient windows. Eckels said the construction will finish in a couple weeks.

The Cobbler Shoppe in Britt has been undergoing some storefront remodeling the past couple weeks, and owner Bill Eckels said it will be finished in another week or two.

Eckels said he started the project because his awning “was shot,” so as he was preparing to replace that he decided to also do a full facial on his storefront.

“You know when you start one job and then you add to it, and it just grows,” he said.

So far, he has replaced his windows to double-paned, energy-efficient ones. He plans to do some new siding and get a new awning similar to his neighbor’s, Swenson’s Do It Best Hardware, awning.

Eckels said replacing the awning will cost around $2,000 by the time he’s done with it.

After starting it in the beginning of June with the help of his cousin, Eckels expects to be finished with the project by the end of the month.

The Cobbler Shoppe will stay open during the construction.
