The Britt Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 4370 Dean Welsh Post recognized four widows of Vietnam Era veterans with commendation certificates.
Linda Barker, Lori Eden, Nancy Peterson and Pat Dewaard, widows of Richard Barker, Robert Eden, James Peterson and Jerry Dewaard, respectively, were each given commendation certificates for their late husbands’ service during the Vietnam War during the June Legion's meeting.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, I’d like to honor you and your husbands for service during the Vietnam War,” VFW Commander Jason Hanson read from a flyer from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

With the certificates, the women also received a lapel pin which stated their husbands were Vietnam War veterans, a spouse pin with a blue star in their husbands’ honor, a white certificate from the Department of Defense for the women and a beige certificate from the Daughters of the Revolution.
The Department of Defense’s Vietnam War Commemoration Certificate said, “On behalf of a grateful nation, the Department of Defense may honor you the spousal service and sacrifice in the name of freedom and democracy during the Vietnam War. Our nation is forever indebted to you with a sense of deepest respect and admiration.”
