TITONKA | A benefit for a Titonka couple dealing with the aftermath of a utility vehicle accident is set for noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Buffalo Creek Activity Center.
Dennis and Ranee Higgins were in a utility vehicle accident on Aug. 25. Ranee sustained life-threatening injuries, including traumatic brain injury, broken bones and numerous fractures.
She was air-lifted from the scene to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. After she was stabilized, she was flown to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Ranee was in the ICU/Trauma unit for most of the 42 days she was at St. Marys.
She is now at home and continuing with occupational and physical therapy appointments three days a week in Algona, along with continued follow-up appointments in Rochester.
Benefit activities include a soup luncheon, a silent auction, a live auction beginning at 1 p.m., and a bake sale.
The Buffalo Creek Activity Center is located at 543 Dieckman St. N.E. in Titonka.
The snow date for the event is Monday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m.
