BRITT | Rebuilding for the future is the goal for the season for West Hancock Volleyball captains Syd Hudspeth and Syd Burgardt.
Last year the Eagles' record was 3-23.
They are trying to regroup this year under new coach Chris Martin, who formerly coached the West Bend volleyball team.
It's important for the Eagles to develop a team bond on the court, according to Hudspeth.
"That's something we have struggled with in the past," she said.
Burgardt said she would like to see the team continue to work on passing and hitting.
"We have gotten better over the past few years and I think we can keep improving," she said.
Burgardt said one of their strengths as a team is "always coming together and trying to cheer everyone up."
Both Burgardt and Hudspeth are seniors this year.
"This year is kind of a building year so we just want to leave the rest of the girls kind of with excitement for years to come so they know they are capable of more than they think," Hudspeth said.
Burgardt said they want the Eagles to do well in the next few years and "hope we can team them as much as we can."
