No. 5 (1A) West Hancock earned a key Top of Iowa Conference West Division win over No. 12 (1A) Bishop Garrigan Friday night. The Eagles pulled away late after the game was tied with 1:20 to play.
Amanda Chizek paced the Eagles with 16 points, Rachel Leerar scored 15 and Kelly Leerar added 12.
Also for West Hancock, Madison Eisenman scored eight points, Mahayla Faust had four and Sydney Burgardt chipped in two.
West Hancock played its first game out of the winter break on Jan. 2 vs. Belmond-Klemme and the result was a 82-23 blowout win.
Ten different Eagles scored in the win, led by Rachel Leerar and her 19 points and six steals. Chizek wasn't too far behind as she tossed in 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Kelly Leerar also scored in double figures with 11 points while adding eights assists and six steals.
Additionally, Riley Hiscocks scored nine, Eisenman had seven, Faust and Carlee Bruns scored six each, and Shae Smith, Burgardt, and Gabby Bell had two apiece.
Burgardt added eight rebounds of her own.
