BRITT | West Hancock volleyball fell to 1-7 on the season with five losses last week.
The Eagles finished 0-3 Saturday in a tournament at Belmond-Klemme. They were handed losses by Iowa Falls-Alden (21-9, 21-11), West Fork (21-14, 21-8) and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (21-12, 21-11).
Sydney Burgardt had six kills on the day for the Eagles, Emily Ryerson added five and Brigid Smith added four. Marissa Eekhoff led the team with 51 digs, Ryann Hagen recorded 18 assists, and Hagen and Kaitlyn Ohrt had two aces apiece.
The Eagles were swept 3-0 (25-6 25-12, 25-17) at North Union on Sept. 5. A 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-10) home loss to North Iowa followed on Sept. 7.
Hagen led the team with 21 assists in the North Union match. Eekhoff finished with 22 kills. Hagen was 7 of 11 serving.
Natalie Lemmon, a junior, had 12 assists and 4 digs in the North Iowa match. Ryerson was 6 of 7 serving with an ace and also had 7 blocks.
Looking ahead, the Eagles play at Newman Catholic on Thursday, Sept. 14. They head to the GTRA Tourney, in Graettinger, on Saturday, Sept. 16.
