BRITT | West Hancock football coach Bob Sanger is in his 50th season at the held of the program.

The Eagles, coming off an 8-3 season in 2016, look to be in good shape to make a playoff run and celebrate 50 years of Sanger football.

West Hancock returns three all-district defensive players in defensive end Hunter Hagen (6-2, 215), defensive tackle Cameron Clark (6-1, 190) and defensive back MaCoy Yeakel (5-10, 160). All are seniors. In all, nine starters return.

Hagen is the leading returning tackler. The end finished 2016 with 27 solo tackles and 31 assists. Clark had 19 solos and 40 assists.

"We feel we have a good attitude about playing the game," noted Sanger. "It's always about team working as a unit."

Yeakel and Bennett Bruns (also a senior) are early leaders to shoulder rushing responsibilities. Bruns finished 2016 with 216 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Yeakel recorded 156 yards and a touchdown.

Sanger is 329-148 as coach.
