BRITT - The 2015 Hancock County Fair 11th annual Tractor Tour conducted by the Hancock County Agricultural Museum is set for Saturday, July 25.
Drivers and support teams will check in between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. at the Ag Museum from the north entrance to the Hancock County Fairgrounds. Breakfast will be served starting at 7 a.m. A driver's meeting follows the 7:30 a.m. breakfast.
Each year the tour visits a different area of the county. This year's tour will depart from the fairgrounds at 8 a.m., head west and then parade through Britt. The route will continue north to Crystal Lake, with a mid-morning stop for rolls and coffee at the shelter house in the county park. From there, the route will go north around Myre Slough and on to Thompson, where it will turn north onto Iowa Highway 9 and go west to Buffalo Center. Noon lunch will be served at the shelter house in the city park.
Following lunch, the tour returns to Highway 9, going west to R16 then turning south to the junction with A42, where the group will turn east, driving by the golf course on the way to the junction with R20. There the tour will turn south to Woden where a mid-afternoon water and rest break will be held at the shelter house in the city park.
Leaving the park, the caravan will return to R20 and travel south, cross Highway 18 to the intersection with old Highway 18, where it turns east to pass through Hutchins on the way back to Britt and the fairgrounds.
The route is about 62 miles.
The application fee of $35 must be paid in advance. The fee includes includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments. A T-shirt is available for an additional $12.
