The U.S. Highway 52 Improvement Project in Winneshiek County was recently recognized by the American Concrete Pavement Association as a gold winner in the concrete pavement restoration category at the National Excellence in Concrete Pavement Award Banquet. Mason City-based WHKS & Co., which shared the award with Iowa DOT and Wicks Construction, "developed the project concept, completed the survey, and provided roadway and bridge design services for the improvements," according to a release. The 4-mile project consisted of pavement restoration, intersection reconfigurations, and bridge repairs.
