Watercolors by Marvella Blome are featured in the gallery at Campus Center of Waldorf University, Forest City, through Oct. 6.

An artist reception will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the gallery, with Blome speaking at 7.

Blome began her career as a commercial artist, earning a degree at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. After graduation, she designed rings for Jostens in Owatonna, Minn., before returning to Hawkeye Community College to teach.

She returned to northern Iowa, married and raised a family, worked as a graphic designer for the Forest City Summit, and taught at Waldorf.

She later opened a studio near Thompson. She is associated with Iowa Artists, as well as the Iowa Watercolor Society as a signature member.

The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. when classes are in session. It is free and open to the public.
