Mason City Community Theatre's 2017-18 season begins with "A Streetcar Named Desire." Opening night is Oct. 26, with complimentary champagne.

Performances of the Tennessee Williams' classic are 7 p.m. Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4, and 2 p.m. Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 at the theater, 215 S. Delaware Ave.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, available at the box office, 641-424-6424, 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Directed by Neil Moe, this renowned drama follows troubled former schoolteacher Blanch DuBois as she leaves small-town Mississippi and moves in with her sister, Stella Kowalski, and her husband, Stanley, in New Orleans. Blanche's flirtatious Southern-belle presence causes problems for Stella and Stanley, who already have a volatile relationship.
