ROCKWELL - Steph Schulz's RBI single in the top half of the eighth inning Monday night lifted St. Ansgar to a 2-1 Corn Bowl Conference victory over Rockwell-Swaledale.

Rockwell-Swaledale (6-10 overall, 3-5 in conference) grabbed 1-0 lead in the fourth before Melissa Putney blasted a solo home run to tie the game. Then in the eighth, Putney and Lanie Mensink reached before Schulz's game-winning hit.

"It was a great game," Rockwell-Swaledale coach Shelly Zeitler said. "Both pitchers were very strong throughout the whole game."

St. Ansgar's Alyssa Picht collected the win by striking out six and walking none, while Andrea Behr fanned three and walked one for Rockwell-Swaledale.

Rockwell-Swaledale is at Nora Springs-Rock Falls Wednesday, and St. Ansgar travels to Osage today.
