MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The NIACC softball team dropped a pair of games Monday.

The Lady Trojans opened the day with a 6-2 loss to Delaware Tech before Genessee (N.Y.) pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh in a 6-5 victory.

“The girls really battled back in both games after giving up early leads,” NIACC coach Tyler Sisco said.

NIACC trailed Genessee 2-0 before plating a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to stake itself to a 4-2 lead.

Genessee, though, plated three in the bottom of the sixth before NIACC tied the game at five in the top of the seventh.

Hailey Eckstein and Katie Gross each drove in two runs in the game.

“A couple losses like today give us the opportunity to reflect on what our strengths and short-comings are and grow individually and as a team,” Sisco said.

NIACC (1-3) plays Danville Area Community College and Raritan Valley Community College on Tuesday.
