Mohawks fall to Dowling
DES MOINES | The Mohawk boys golf team paid a first visit to Blank Golf Course on Wednesday. The unfamiliarity was clear on the scorecard.
West Des Moines Dowling outshot the Mohawks, 151-173. Dowling's Jack Hurley and Nick Wegman were co-medalists with a 37.
"It was a little tough out there," said coach Jim Cornick. "Hopefully, we'll rebound and be ready for Marshalltown on Friday.
Brad Vaith led Mason City with a 40. J.J. Wickman and Evan Lynch fired a pair of 44s. Pete Stadheim carded a 45.
Friday's 11-team invitational begins at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown.

Crestwood claims Osage Invite
OSAGE | A top-three sweep helped propel Crestwood to a win Tuesday at Osage.
Ellie Friesen won the girls' race with a 19:25.13. Cassidy Ihns (21:28.56) and Hope Dohlman (21:31.10) filled out the top three.
Northwood-Kensett's Lindsey Davidson ran a fifth-place time of 21:56.44. Rockford's Sheridan LaCoste was seventh with a 22:39.90, and Newman Catholic's Chlose Nelson (22:53.99) and Grace Henrich (23:01.68) finished eighth and ninth.

Knights win Osage Invite
OSAGE | Newman Catholic placed four runners in the top six to claim Tuesday Osage's Invitational win.
Carson Rygh of Lake Mills won the race in 18:09.79. Ellis Regan of Central Springs finished second with a 18:48.47.
Newman's Stephen Ringo (18:58.36), Jacob McBride (19:00.96), Isaac Fettkether (19:02.72) and Braden Petree (19:10.96) rounded out the top six.

WEST BURLINGTON | The Lady Trojans dropped a 25-14, 25-22, 26-24 loss Wednesday night.
"SECC played a very scrappy game and we had trouble finding the floor for our offense," said coach Chris Brandt.
Sydney Roush recorded 26 assists, 2 kills and 2 blocks. Shelby Heston had 7 kills and 5 digs. Brooke Greenwood finished with 5 kills and 7 blocks.
The Lady Trojans return to action Sunday at home against Ellsworth Community College (2 p.m.) and Dakota County Technical College (3:30 p.m.)
