Waldorf falls in NAIA National Tournament
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – A 71-second stretch of action changed the game for the Waldorf Warriors in the team’s first-ever trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
Host and top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan scored with 13 minutes, 37 seconds left until halftime, then netted another goal 71 seconds later, snapping a scoreless duel with the Warrior men’s soccer team en route to a 5-0 win in the opening round of nationals.
“Unfortunate result,” Waldorf head coach Edgar Gonzaga said. “Oklahoma Wesleyan is a good team, you almost have to be perfect and can’t allow errors to a team like that; we made our errors and couldn’t quite grasp the game.
“We had good fight at the end, but it wasn’t good enough for us today.”
