CRESCO | Top senior wrestlers from northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota will face off in the 16th annual all-star Border Battle dual meet at 7 p.m., Friday, March 10, at the Crestwood High School.

The Minnesota team will consist of senior wrestlers from school districts located in Mower, Fillmore and Houston counties. As in the past, each team will go outside their areas in an attempt to attract and honor the best wrestlers.

Two Iowa state champions will headline the Iowa squad this year. Keaton Geerts of New Hampton is a two-time state champion with a 175-22 record. He was 60-1 at 138 pounds this year and had 118 career falls.

The second state champion is Brock Jennings from Osage. Jennings is a four-time state medalist with a 179-33 overall record. Jennings won the state title at 170 pounds with a 56-2 record this year.

Other Iowa wrestlers who have already committed include: Fourth-place state finisher Caleb Ring of Osage, Ethan Lape of North Fayette Valley, Trae Pecinovsky, Crestwood, Isiah Mitchell of Decorah, Blain Swenson of Waukon, Trevor Trende of Crestwood, Elgeo Marroquin of Postville, Riley Doeppke of MFL, Mac Hughes of Postivlle, Luke Massman of South Winneshiek, and Luke Schnuelle of South Winneshiek.

Tickets for the event are $6 and $5 for students and will be sold at the door at Crestwood.
