KANSAS CITY, Kan. | Weston Koop’s year to remember didn’t end at Mason City Motor Speedway.

The MCMS Hobby Stock track champion raced his way to a feature win Saturday at the USRA National Championships at Lakeside Speedway.

Despite crossing the finish line second, Koop was handed the win after the first-place finisher was disqualified due to a non-conforming front end.

Koop led the first nine laps before he was overtaken for the lead.

Koop, who won five times this season at Mason City, pocketed $1,000 for the victory.
