Mason City’s Kamm signs with Loras
MASON CITY — Danny Kamm meant a lot to the Mason City football team this past season.
The senior led the Mohawks in a number of different statistical categories, and on Wednesday Kamm took the next step in his football career by signing his National Letter of Intent to play football at Loras College in Dubuque next fall.
Offensively, Kamm completed 56.6 percent of his passes for 885 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 537 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Defensively, Kamm finished as the Mohawks’ top tackler with 77 total, including three for a loss.
Mason City to host 3-on-3 tournament
MASON CITY — The Mason City boys basketball team is hosting its annual Royal Wentworth Memorial 3-on-3 Shootout tournament on Sunday, March 24.
Cost is $40 per team, and any male, female or co-ed teams are welcome.

North Iowans compete at American Birkebeiner
A group of five North Iowans took on the 44th annual American Birkebeiner Sunday, Feb. 24-25 in Hayward, Wisconsin, and each found success.
With more than 13,500 cross country skiers competing, Robert Polking of Mason City led the Iowa group in the grueling, Birkie freestyle 32-mile course with a finish time of 3:19:25. He was followed by Joel Yunek of Mason City at 3:22:58, former Mason City resident Todd Juhlin at 3:26, Jeff Hovinga of Forest City with 3:31 and Andy Johnson of Mason City/Clear Lake with 4:13.
