Central Springs 47, Iowa Falls-Alden 46

MANLY – Kaylee Parks had quite the night for Central Springs Monday in a 47-46 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.

The Panthers' senior leader scored her 1,000-career point, and then with the game on the line, Parks sunk a pair of free throws with one second remaining to hand the Panthers a one-point victory.

Parks led all scorers with 26 points while adding seven rebounds and five steals. Hannah Ausenhus added six points and Morgan Kelley had five.

Madalyn Juhl led the Cadets with 13.

Mason City girls top Des Moines East

MASON CITY – Mason City picked up its first win over the season Monday, 2,069-1,964 over Des Moines East.

Sadie Arickx led the Mohawks with a high two-game series of 293. Gabi Simon had the high game with a 169. Sarah Wendel added a 284 series and Hannah Hill rolled a 282.

On the boys side, Mason City wound up with a 3,446-2,344 defeat.

Malik Brown had a team-best 369 series with a 211 game. Anthony Frescaz added a 189 game and Aaron Pope rolled a 163 in his first game.

Iowa State's Carleton, Wise capture Big 12 weekly honors

IRVING, Texas – Iowa State junior guard Bridget Carleton and freshman guard Madison Wise captured Big 12 weekly honors, the league announced Monday. Carleton was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week and Wise earned Freshman of the Week.

Carleton put together one of the best weeks in her career, averaging 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 46.1 percent from long range. The junior was unstoppable in ISU's two road games against Drake and Vanderbilt, netting 19 points and dishing a team-high five dimes while grabbing seven rebounds. Against the Commodores, she tallied a game-high 30 points, her fourth career 30-point outing and first of the season. Carleton went 10-of-21 from the floor and shot a blistering 4-of-7 from long range. Carleton also tacked on eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, stuffing the stat sheet.

Wise was a big contributor for the Cyclones on the week, averaging 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and going 5-of-10 from long range. Wise shined at Vanderbilt, netting 14 points for Iowa State and grabbing three rebounds, while going 5-of-7 from the field. Against the Bulldogs, she tallied eight points and grabbed three rebounds.

Waldorf's Fricke wins NSAA award

FOREST CITY – A double-double performance by Warrior junior Taylor Fricke led Waldorf to a league-opening win last week, and helped earn the Warrior forward North Star Athletic Association Player of the Week honors in women’s basketball.

The 5-foot-10 product from East Marshall High School scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Waldorf (3-6 overall, 1-0 NSAA) opened conference play with a 68-59 win at Dickinson State on Saturday.

Fricke’s performance in the league-opener gave her a double-double for Waldorf’s two games last week as she averaged 17 points and 11.5 rebounds in two contests.
