CHARLES CITY | The Comets stepped out of Northeast Iowa Conference play for Friday's win over the Lightning. Jack Molstead and Mike Cranshaw each scored 17 points for Charles City.
Andre Brandon scored 12 points to lead Liberty.
The Comets (6-1) are off until Jan. 2 when they travel to Waverly-Shell Rock.
Riceville 54, GMG 47
RICEVILLE — Riceville picked up its third straight win Friday night with a 54-47 victory over GMG.
John Miller led the way with 21 points for the Wildcats (3-5, 2-5), Sully Fair had 13 and Cole Hale added nine.
GMG’s Brayden Peterson led all scorers with 23.
West Fork 75, North Butler 47
SHEFFIELD — West Fork placed four players in double figures Friday as it rolled to a 75-47 win over North Butler.
Zach Martinek scored 17 points to lead the Warhawks, Nathan Meinders had 14, and Ian Latham and Thomas Nuehring tossed in 13 apiece.
Osage 64, Rockford 10
ROCKFORD | Osage's Rylie Olson led all scorers Friday with 15 points. Mia Knudsen followed with 10 points.
Amber Reams and Jenna Paulus each scored 3 points for the Lady Warriors.
The Green Devils (No. 5, Class 3A) move to 9-0 and are off until a Jan. 5 home game vs Northwood-Kensett. The Lady Warriors (2-9) play at North Butler on Jan. 5.
GMG 73, Riceville 43
RICEVILLE | Sarah Harken led the Wildcats with 16 points. Aby Adams followed with 9 points.
Mable Dieleman led GMG with 16 points.
The Wildcats (2-8) return to action Jan. 5 at Valley Lutheran in Cedar Falls.
West Fork 44, North Butler 39
SHEFFIELD — Lexi Jones scored a game-high 20 points to help West Fork hold off North Butler on Friday, 44-39.
Rachel Jones added 10 points for the Warhawks (6-3).
Nicole Heeren led the Bearcats with 12 points, Marcy Jacobs had nine and Madi Pleas scored seven.
Mohawk Hockey Club 4, Ames 0
AMES — The Mohawk Hockey Club headed into the winter break Friday with a 4-0 shutout victory at Ames.
The Mohawks wasted no time as they scored three goals in the opening period. Zach jimenez, Jacob Lang and Nate Lassise each tallied a goal in the big period.
Lang added his second of the game in the third period.
Tirrell Hopkins finished with two assists for the Mohawks. Josh Thilges stopped all 20 shots he faced in goal.
