The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa High School Sports Network rolled out the brackets for the 2017 boys state basketball tournament on Wednesday, and after a little wait, West Hancock and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura finally know what's next.
In the Class 1A bracket, West Hancock, which has a 19-6 overall record, was given a No. 7 seed and will open Monday at 3:45 p.m. inside Wells Fargo Arena vs. No. 2 seed Grand View Christian, which comes in at 24-1. The winner will face the winner between No. 3 Remsen St. Mary's and No. 6 New London in a 1A quarterfinal Thursday at 12:15 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 North Linn faces No. 8 Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto while No. 4 Gladbrook-Reinbeck takes on No. 5 Lynville-Sully.
In the Class 2A bracket, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (24-1) drew a No. 6 seed and will meet up in the opening round Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. vs. No. 3 seed Carroll Kuemper (22-2). The winner will face the winner between No. 2 Pella Christian (20-4) and No. 7 Van Meter (23-1) in a 2A quarterfinal Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
On the other side, No. 1 Western Christian faces No. 8 South Hamilton while No. 4 Cascade Western Dubuque meets No. 5 Camanche.
