WATERLOO — Mason City’s season came to an end Monday night in the Class 4A postseason as it was handed a 67-49 loss from Waterloo West.
“I have to give a lot of credit to Waterloo West,” Mason City coach Nick Trask said. “They played an intense defensive game and their shooting was incredible. I felt our guys fought hard to the end and I'm really proud of that.”
Javorius Toney and Jake Rood led the Mohawks with eight points apiece, Jeffrey Skogen and Avery Mellman each had seven, and Amel Lakic tossed in five.
Mason City finished its season 4-18 and loses nine seniors to graduation.
“We will be losing a lot of seniors off this team and it is always hard to say goodbye,” Trask said. “I know our younger guys were a huge part of this team and will be hungry next season.”
