CHARLES CITY | The Charles City boys basketball team moved one win away from the state tournament Thursday night with a 65-58 victory over Webster City. A lot of it was due to a third quarter which saw the Comets outscore the Lynx 21-9.
The Comets' Jack Molstead led all scorers with 20 points, Mike Cranshaw scored 17, Noah Schlader had 11 and Bradley Andrews tossed in nine.
Cam Moen paced the Lynx with 15 points.
Charles City (18-4) will face Northeast Iowa Conference rival Waverly-Shell Rock in a Class 3A substate final on Monday in Denver.
