LAKE MILLS | The Bulldogs broke the bats out early Tuesday night.
Slade Sifuentes drilled a first-inning home run to right-center, scoring Charlie Dugger and putting Lake Mills up 2-0. The Bulldogs would finish the night with a 5-2 win. Lake Mills advances to a Class 1A district semifinal.
The Eagles came within one run in the second inning when Dylan Eckles drove in West Hancock's only two scores of the night.
Zach Throne's RBI single put the Bulldogs back on top in the bottom of the second.
"I'm glad we got the lead early," head coach Jason Blaser said. "Momentum is huge, especially in the postseason, every team is beatable, so when you can get the lead in your first at-bat, that's big momentum for us."
The Bulldogs will play Northwood-Kensett, 11-7 winners Tuesday over North Union, Thursday night at Fort Dodge St. Edmond. Game time is 5 p.m.
