It's been two great seasons for the Drake women's basketball team, and the Bulldogs aren't done yet.
Drake, which won the Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship Sunday in Moline, Illinois, will play Friday at Texas A&M in its NCAA women’s basketball tourney opener.
The Bulldogs will take a 26-7 record into their game against the Aggies, a 24-9 team. A&M finished in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Southeastern Conference with an 11-5 record.
The berth is the second straight for Drake, awarded a 13 seed, and coach Jennie Baranczyk said following Sunday’s title game that her team is better prepared for this NCAA experience.
“Everything last year was new for us,’’ Baranczyk said. “I think we’re better prepared for this year. It’s something we’ve worked toward and we’re excited about the opportunity.’’
