LA CROSSE, Wis. – No part of North Iowa's series vs. La Crosse was easy this weekend, but the Bulls are heading back to the Silver Cup tournament for the fifth straight year after scoring a series-clinching 3-2 win over the Freeze Saturday.

Like Friday night, La Crosse was the one which led by a goal after a period as Brendan Elliot notched a first-period goal to put the Freeze up 1-0.

After an ejection and major penalty by the Bulls' Sean Mallonee North Iowa came up with another one of its signature short-handed goals when Connor Clemons scored to tie the game 1-1.

Clemons added his second of the night 3:59 into the third period to give North Iowa its first lead before La Crosse responded to tie the game 2-2 with 9:49 to play.

Mitch Dolter provided the game-winner nearly three minutes later on assists from Jake Joyaux and Braxton Collins.

Drew Scites stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced in goal for the Bulls, who will open the Silver Cup tournament Wednesday vs. an opponent to be determined.
