Lincoln Intermediate in Mason City will host its fourth annual VEX Robotics Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 20. The competition begins at 10:30 a.m. in the school's gym. It is free to the public.

Each team builds and programs a robot to participate in the challenge, "In the Zone." Teams are from Mason City, Clear Lake, Solon, Mount Vernon, Council Bluffs and Valley, Nebraska.

Students meet with judges to share their engineering process, how their robot works and how well they worked together. They will also compete for points in different robot skills, as well as form alliances to compete against each other to become champions.

Teams will also compete for the excellence, judges, design and robot skills awards, as well as the Sportsmanship Award for helping others during the competition.
