Since 1923, the United Way of North Central Iowa has been improving our community. Lutheran Services in Iowa is one of the many local organizations that have been fortunate to work in partnership with United Way. United Way has provided grants to LSI’s Families Together Program and the New Parent Program that provide in-home child abuse prevention education to families in Floyd, Mitchell, Chickasaw, Butler, Franklin, Worth, and Cerro Gordo counties.

Without the generous support of United Way, these programs and others like it would be severely impacted. In addition to being awarded grants to serve their communities, these programs have the opportunity to get involved in many of the projects United Way works on throughout the year, including a book drive that resulted in 4,000 new and used books being distributed to agencies that serve families.

United Way also supports local programs through the donation of goods. Recently, the 3M Corporation donated items to United Way, which were distributed to agencies that benefit the programs and families they serve.

United Way of North Central Iowa is a treasure for our communities. It provides a way for individuals and businesses to easily connect with the needs of their neighbors, and it is a great way for them to support the good work being done in our communities.

As the coordinator for LSI’s New Parent Program, I am sincerely grateful on behalf of LSI, the families we serve, and our programs and staff for the support of United Way of North Central Iowa. I encourage everyone to explore ways they can become a part of the wonderful work being done by United Way in their area.
