Schools closing early today

MASON CITY — Today’s high winds have forced 14 North Iowa school districts including Mason City and Clear Lake to dismiss students early or cancel classes altogether.

Officials with the Mason City Community Schools said classes will be dismissed one hour early. Classes at Newman Catholic will also be dismissed an hour early.

Classes have been cancelled at Algona Public Schools and at Algona Bishop Garrigan.

Students will be dismissed at 11 a.m. in Ventura.

St. Ansgar is dismissing students at 11:15 a.m.

Woden-Crystal Lake Titonka is dismissing classes at 12:25 p.m.

CWL is dismissing students at 12:30 p.m.

Clear Lake, Lake Mills, Garner-Hayfield, Clarion-Goldfield, Rockwell-Swaledale, Dows and S-C-M-T are also dismissing students at 1 p.m.

West Hancock, Hampton-Dumont and Kanawha Christian are dismissing students two hours early.

There is also no preschool today in Dows.

All afternoon and evening activities at Kanawha Christian School and West Hancock have been cancelled.

The CWL basketball game against Armstrong-Ringsted has been postponed until Thursday, Jan. 31.

The CWL senior soup supper has also been postponed until Jan. 19.
