I’m writing to encourage all citizens of the 4th Congressional District to vote for Christie Vilsack for Congress.

I first met Christie when she was in Mason City campaigning for her husband, Tom Vilsack, for governor. She is a tireless worker and one of the most personable people I know.

With the animosity and rancor at the highest levels in memory in the U.S. Congress, Vilsack is the type of person we need to stabilize our country and the horrible situation in Congress.

Christie is extremely well-educated and well-spoken. She has a great handle on the issues. She has championed the causes of education, literacy and helping to solve the problems in our society associated with unplanned pregnancies.

Although she is probably more comfortable in small-town Iowa, she is certainly a force to contend with in Washington D.C., as well. If elected, she will bring her problem-solving ability and her homespun charm to Congress and will work with others, across the aisle to get things done.

Specifically ...what about Ms. Vilsack makes her "a force to contend with in Washington, DC"? She may be "extremely well-educated and well-spoken", but then, so are Obama, Harkin, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and other liberals, whose graduate degrees and slick talk haven't done much for net taxpayers - besides raise taxes, and vote to spend more money we don't have. As to Ms. Vilsack being able to "work with others", even Democrats know that she's as partisan as she is liberal. No sale here.

Considering the length of tiime King has been in DC we dont have much to show for it do we? He didnt stop the affordable care act. He voted time and time again for spending which was not paid for, namely two wars which has really been the root cause of the deficit. And is one of the most divisive individuals in congress. Time for a change. No matter what we get can not be any worse.

do you really think anyone who will vote lockstep with Pelosi is going to be good for IA? Ask CV what she thinks of Tom and the USDA payout with Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers who allege discrimination to the tune of 1.33 billion. And the key word is allege. You don't have to prove, just allege.

OK, 'Brad', I guess I'll have to rely on someone else to answer my question. No, King didn't stop ObamaCare, but he sure tried - as did EVERY Republican in the U.S. House. If you're truly worried about "spending which was not paid for", then you shouldn't favor ObamaCare - which will be one of the worst budget-busters ever. As to Congressman King allegedly being "divisive", it's hardly King's fault that the Democrats such slick-talking liberals! He only APPEARS "divisive" when compared to THEM.

Like the Bush drug plan that was not paid for? And the Iraq wars? Take away all the budget busting garbage Bush and the republicans left the US with four yrs ago and then maybe you could blame Obama for our deficits. Bush never paid for the wars of choice or the tax cuts he signed into law. You want to blame Obama for everything but God forbid you blame Bush or anything. With approvals in the teens any change has to be good.

Come on Tim, even you as a lifelong Democrat needs to recognize that Vilsack, while a nice well-mannered lady is not what we need.
This administration continues towards the fiscal and monetary cliff without a visible viable solution and needs to be shown the door which includes sending King back to hold the door open.

She will not be a force to contend with in Washington. She will probably make a horrible member of congress. She will not help Iowa or the nation improve their status. Still, she will accomplish more than King with his outlandish ideas.
