CEDAR FALLS — University of Northern Iowa Director of Athletics Troy Dannen has granted Doug McDermott a release from his National Letterof Intent to attend UNI.

“In discussing the request for release with head coach Ben Jacobson, we believe it’s in the best long-term interest of the program and the student-athlete involved to grant this request so he can play for his father. This is an extraordinary circumstance and coach Jacobson and I are in agreement that it’s appropriate to grant this release.”

Think they did what most colleges would do. If the kid wants to leave then they should let him.
IMO if Mac wanted to coach his son so bad why did he not offer him at ISU?
