Close to 50 anxious fishermen of all ages lined the south shore of Big Blue in Lester Milligan Park Wednesday morning as the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources stocked the pond with about 1,500 half-pound rainbow trout ranging in size from 10-12 inches. The trout came from the Decorah fish hatchery. Scott Grummer, DNR fisheries biologist, said there will only be two stockings at the pond this year. The other will be on January 21st. It will be a family fishing event held in conjunction with the Mason City Park and Rec. Dept. Grummer reminds anglers that in addition to a regular Iowa fishing license, they also need a Iowa Trout Stamp to fish for trout or have trout in their psssession.
