MASON CITY | Several inches of snow fell across North Iowa overnight making travel difficult.

Most area schools, including Mason City and Clear Lake, have been postponed two hours.

Snow in the state has ended for the most part, with only lingering light snow along and south of Interstate 80, but roads remain partially to completely covered in snow according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.

Brisk northeast winds with gusts to 20 to 30 mph will gradually diminish through the morning, but may still produce blowing and drifting across roads.

Motorists are advised to slow down and plan for extra travel time through the morning commute.
