ROCKFORD | Residents of Rockford could have a big reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving. The new bridge over the Shell Rock River is on target to open on Thanksgiving Day, according to Mayor Harry White.
White said crews were getting ready to pour concrete for the east approach on Thursday. They also were removing the pile of dirt from the west side. White said next week they will be pouring concrete for the west approach and installing the street lights.
Barring any delays, the bridge should be open to traffic on Thursday, Nov. 28, according to White. He said if there are delays, the bridge will open sometime during the first week of December.
