MASON CITY | The design and allure of the proposed Hyatt hotel were among topics discussed Tuesday at a public forum on the River City Renaissance plan.
The program, sponsored by Main Street Mason City and Mason City Says Yes, was attended by 10 at the Mason City Regional Commerce Center.
John Prebeck, representing Mason City Says Yes, narrated a slide presentation, emphasizing the importance of voters approving two public issues in November — a lease agreement concerning the ice arena/multipurpose center; and issuing up to $14 million in bonds to pay for expenses related to the proposed hotel and renovations to The Music Man Square.
One person in the audience said it was important that the hotel be attractive and inviting to people approaching the downtown area.
Another person stressed the importance of Mason City residents being for something, instead of always being against.
The session lasted about an hour. Main Street Mason City will host another public forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Fat Hill brewery.
