MASON CITY — A preliminary hearing for one of three former Mason City Ford employees charged with first-degree theft has been continued.

Timothy Behm, 52, Scott Behm, 48, and John Behm Sr., 75, all of Mason City, also were charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony.

First-degree theft is a Class C felony.

Scott Behm’s preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, in Cerro Gordo County District Court in Mason City.

The preliminary hearing for John Behm Sr. has been continued to 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, in Mason City. His hearing was originally set for Friday, March 23.

Timothy Behm waived his right to a preliminary hearing, according to online court records.

No new court date has been set for Timothy Behm.

According to Mason City police, authorities were alerted by the owners of the business in late December that employees were embezzling money by misappropriation or deception.

Mason City Ford is located at 215 15th St. S.W.

John Behm Sr. is the father of Timothy and Scott Behm. All three men have been longtime car salesmen in Mason City, including many years at the former Don Lafrenz Ford, which was sold to Community Auto Group in 2008.

A conviction on a Class B felony carries a term of up to 25 years in prison. A Class C felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
