MASON CITY — A Hampton clothing store has expanded to Mason City.

A second Orange Possum opened on Aug. 1 at 1911 Fourth St. S.W.  behind Jimmy John’s.

The original Orange Possum opened in 2008 at 12 First St. N.W., Hampton.

“I live in Sheffield so it’s halfway between Hampton and halfway to Mason City,” said owner Kelsey Boeckmann. “I love small towns (Hampton) but wanted to expand.”

She said having a second store in Mason City will open it to more college and high school girls, which the Orange Possum mainly caters to.

“We like to keep on top of the trends,” Boeckmann said. “It’s straight out of New York and L.A.”

Both stores will carry similar clothes and accessories but not exactly the same items.

“I tell people it’s worth a trip to Hampton, or if you live in Hampton it’s worth a trip to Mason City because it’s completely different stuff,” Boeckmann said.

She hopes to have a grand opening event closer to September.

The Mason City Orange Possum is managed by Jenna Orozco and is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. For more information visit

Boeckmann also co-owns The Freckled Dandelion, 103 Central Ave. W. (Highway 3), Hampton, with her mother, Guyla Pohlman. The store includes newborn to toddler clothes, shoes and other items.
