MASON CITY - Terry A. Shellhart, 68, of Mason City, died Wednesday (March 7, 2018) at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa, Mason City.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday (March 14, 2018) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, with The Rev. Dan Larson officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Elmwood- St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Military honors will be provided by the Mason City Veterans.
Terry's family will greet friends Tuesday evening (March 13, 2018) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to Terry's service on Wednesday.
Terry Allen Shellhart was born February 11, 1950 in St. Louis, MO, the son of James and Jereline (Sanderfer) Shellhart. He attended and graduated from high school in St. Louis before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served until his Honorable Discharge on February 16, 1979.
On June 27, 1970 Terry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marilyn Christine Pierce in Florissant, Missouri. Together they would be blessed with five children and 29 years of marriage.
Terry worked for many years in engineering as a boiler inspector for Western National, eventually retiring from Hartford.
Family was first and foremost in Terry's life. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were an infinite source of joy for him. In his free time Terry enjoyed watching NASCAR and fishing. He was interested in genealogy and loved researching his family heritage.
Those grateful in sharing in Terry's life are his mother, Jereline Shellhart; children, Kimberly (Darrell) Overbeck, Mason City, Angelique Thompson, Mason City, Tracy (Patrick) Piper, Albert Lea, Minn., Terry Shawn Shellhart, Mason City, and Crystal (Kristina) Shellhart, Mason City; grandchildren, Tony, Lance, Ashley, Colby, Chance, Alyssa, Brittany, Twyla, Anthony, Katlyn, Joe, and Kenzee; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Keith (Audrey) Shellhart, Don (Nancy) Shellhart, and Judy Shellhart; as well as many extended relatives and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, James; wife, Marilyn; daughter, Twyla Dawn; great grandson, Bryton Thompson; and brother, James Raymond Shellhart.
