Mildred ‘Mick' Johnson
August 31, 1922 - April 11, 2018
ROCKWELL - Mildred ‘Mick' Johnson, 95, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Rockwell United Methodist Church, with Pastor Travis Stevick presiding. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday at the church. Burial services will be at the Rockwell Cemetery.
Mildred Lillian Johnson was born August 31, 1922 at home in Clarion, a daughter of Earl and Noy (Blankenship) Gates. She attended country school in the Hayfield area and Belmond High School.
On April 1, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage with Harold Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. This union was blessed with four children. They lived on farms near Hampton and Sheffield before moving to farm in the Rockwell area.
Mick was a longtime member of the Rockwell United Methodist Church and was devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook and could make anything, sometimes without using a recipie. She did lots of sewing for her family and many other tasks with love. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her family. After Harold's passing she hosted ‘The Boys Coffee Club' every day when her sons would come to her home for morning coffee.
Her family includes her children: Lloyd (Marlys) Johnson, Rockwell; Larry (Terry) Johnson, Rockwell; Karie (John) Shoop, Mason City; Marv (Becky) Johnson, Rockwell; 9 grandchildren: Kim Johnson; Dean Johnson; Sondy Ward; Brad Johnson; Brian Johnson; Jill O'Dell; Anna Plank; Trevis Johnson; Brittini Johnson; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren Allen William Shoop and Timothy Justin Johnson and her brothers and sisters. www.retzfh.com
