Luella Hoadley Jaspers

KENSETT | Luella Hoadley Jaspers, 80, of Kensett, IA passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, IA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Visitation is Friday, November 24, 2017 at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in Northwood from 4 - 7 PM. A Celebration of Life service in her honor will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Northwood United Methodist Church.
Luella Darlene Hoadley was born on September 11, 1937 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Harry Hoadley and Edith James Hoadley. She was the youngest of eight children. Following her father's death, Luella moved to Northwood at the age of 16 where she met her devoted husband of 59 years, Carl 'Bones' Jaspers, Jr. They were united in marriage on May 17, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Northwood and made their home in Kensett, IA. To this union, three children were born: Deborah, Douglas, and Dolores.
During their married years, Lue worked at Mortenson Produce, Grundmeier Hatchery, Carroll George Inc, and the Lutheran Retirement Home. However, Luella devoted most of her time to her family. Luella is best known for her love of giving to others especially when she could share her baked goods and home-cooked meals. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, baking, bowling, and golfing whenever time permitted, but her family's needs always came first. Whenever it was possible, she spent as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Luella later moved into the Lutheran Retirement Home on August 31, 2015. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the friends and family who have visited her bedside and the staff of Lutheran Retirement Home for the professional care and love shown to Luella during her convalescence.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl 'Bones' Jaspers of Kensett; three children: Deborah and Jon Christenson of Albert Lea, MN, Douglas and Pat Jaspers of Northwood, IA, and Dolores and Clifton Able of Damon, TX; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Margaret Wiltse of Fargo, ND, her brother-in-law Lowell Jaspers of Manly, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews,
Luella is preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Edith Hoadley, six of her siblings and their spouses: Harold and Lucille Hoadley, James and Ella Hoadley, Alice and Jerry Netland, Lillian and Harold Parks, Florence and Donald Utech, and Helen Norby; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
