Jerry Warwick, age 81 passed away October 31, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center.
Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Jerry was the son of Edwin James Warwick and Ida Belle Petersen. Jerry resided in Urbandale with his wife Zella Marvidene(Shown) Warwick since 1976.
After serving his country as a member of the United States Army for three years, Jerry embarked on a successful, life-long career with Elanco as an animal pharmaceutical sales representative. He served as a subject matter expert in swine and cattle. Firm in his beliefs, with an unparalleled work ethic and passion for whatever he pursued, Jerry was truly an inspiration to others
Well known as the “Voice of the Buccaneers”, Jerry was the first announcer of the Des Moines hockey team. He had a special love for the game of hockey and was a season ticket holder since the team's inception. He was an avid golfer, walleye fisherman, enjoyed hunting pheasant and quail, and loved Nebraska football.
Jerry had a genuine love for people and conversation. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Unwavering in his faith, Jerry was an active leader and member of Covenant Christian Church in Urbandale for the past 41 years.
He leaves his wife Zella Marvidene (Tommie) Warwick of 57 years; son Gregory and wife Kristin (Astor) of Johnston, Iowa; Joseph and wife Chris (Coonce) of Austin, Texas and three grandchildren, Hannah, Dillon and Shelby. He is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Ida Belle and sister, Ada Huning.
A celebration of life will be 3:00pm, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Covenant Christian Church, 2700 72nd St., Urbandale, IA 50322, with family greeting friends 1 hour prior. A gathering in the fellowship hall will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Jerry's memory to the Greater Des Moines Alzheimer's Association, or the Des Moines Youth Hockey Association.
Jerry, in Jesus Christ's comfort and care, may you rest in peace. GBR!
