CLEAR LAKE | Tony Nelson has announced he will seek a third term on the Clear Lake City Council, representing Ward 2.

Nelson is co-owner and director of sales and marketing for American Resources LLC of Lake Mills. He also represents Clear Lake on the Landfill Board of North Iowa.

Nelson and his wife, Ashley, have three children.

A native of Lake Mills, Nelson worked in Overland Park, Kansas, before moving back to North Iowa in 2007.

"I chose to move back to North Iowa and specifically chose Clear Lake as I saw it was the best place to live, work and raise a family in all of north central Iowa," said Nelson in a news release. "We continue to lead the path in job growth, amenities, public safety and quality of life.

"This community has supported me in so many ways. I want to return the favor by asking the citizens to allow me to run again. We have many opportunities ahead of us and I know I have the experience, time and dedication to identify the ways our city government can continue to succeed."

Bennett Smith, a history instructor at North Iowa Area Community College, has filed as a candidate for the Ward 2 seat.
