MASON CITY | A neighbor has been charged with arson in connection with an early-morning fire that destroyed a vacant house at 112 Brook Terrace, Mason City police reported Wednesday.
Roger Kenneth Kuck, 57, of 124 Brook Terrace was arrested by police and charged with second-degree arson, third-degree burglary and criminal trespass, police reported.
The fire was reported by a neighbor at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday. Flames were coming through the roof of the ranch-style house when the Fire Department arrived, a department spokesman said.
Second-degree arson is a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
Third-degree burglary is a class D felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
The fire was investigated by the Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Department.
