MASON CITY — A Mason City man was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison Monday for burglary and domestic assault.
Michael A. Waddington, 27, pleaded guilty in Cerro Gordo County District Court last month to second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, and domestic abuse assault by strangulation resulting in bodily injury and willful injury resulting in bodily injury, both Class D felonies.
The charges stemmed from an altercation on Dec. 9, 2012, in which Waddington allegedly punched an individual in the face.
Waddington was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on the burglary charge. He was also given a $1,000 fine, which was suspended.
He was sentenced to up to five years in prison on each of the assault charges. Those sentences are to be served concurrently with each other, but consecutive to the burglary sentence.
He was fined $750 on each of the two assault charges. The fines were suspended.
