MASON CITY - Flags are flying at half-staff at Kum & Go convenience stores around the state in memory of store clerk Sheila Myers of Humboldt.

Myers was gunned down at the Kum & Go in Humboldt Monday night.

Seventeen-year-old Michael Richard Swanson of St. Louis Park, Minn., is facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in connection with Myers' death. He is also charged in the shooting death of Vicky Bowman-Hall of Burt earlier that same night at a convenience store in Algona.

"We are keeping our flags at half-staff until after her funeral has been concluded," said company spokeswoman Catherine Huggins.

Huggins said company associates wanted to do something to visibly honor their colleague.

A memorial page for Myers will also be placed on the company's website soon. The website address is www.kumandgo.com
