MASON CITY — The Mason City Jaycees will be sponsoring Cranksgiving, a national food-raiser, Saturday, Nov. 5.

Cranksgiving is a bike ride, scavenger hunt, and food drive. Participants will be given a grocery list with specific items from selected stores. They must figure out the best route and be on the road at the sound of “Go!”

Participants should bring a bike, a lock, bag/backpack for food and approximately $15-$20 for the items.

All of the food and items collected at the stores will be donated to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank and North Iowa Humane Society. Prizes from several business sponsors will be awarded based on fastest individual, fastest team, and drawing of receipts.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Lorado’s in the plaza in downtown Mason City with a starting time of 11 a.m.. There is no cost to register.

At 1 p.m., Lorado’s will be serving chili for a suggested donation of $5 with proceeds to be split between the Food Bank and Humane Society.
