EVANSDALE — Friends and supporters of the families of missing cousins Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins are planning two events this week to maintain public awareness of the search for the missing children.
A mass distribution of fliers is planned for Halloween. The public is invited to print copies of the missing girls’ photos and the tip line telephone number.
People may hand out the fliers to trick-or-treating families coming to their door. Or parents or other adults accompanying children while trick-or-treating may distribute the fliers door to door.
If each household makes 10 copies, the fliers will carry a long way, organizer Gary McGowan suggested on a Facebook event page.
More information about the event is available on the Facebook site, “Mass Halloween Flier Distribution for Liz and Lyric.” The Internet link is www.facebook.com/ events/492473770785969/.
The second event is a “Volunteer Day for Elizabeth and Lyric” planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Evansdale.
“We are looking for a large group of volunteers that would be willing to go door to door in Evansdale or nearby neighborhoods to help with outdoor fall chores such as raking, hauling yard waste to the brush dump, other outdoor yard work and to hang pink ribbons,” organizers said on the Facebook event site.
Co-organizer Sara Kipp indicated on Facebook that volunteers will meet at Deerwood Park in Evansdale at 9 a.m. and fan out from there.
More information about that event maybe obtained at the Facebook page “Volunteer Day for Elizabeth & Lyric.” The link is www.facebook.com/events/ 480309035334308/
Elizabeth Cook-Morrissey, 11, and Elizabeth Collins, 9, have been missing since July 13 when they went out for an afternoon bike ride in Evansdale.
