CLEAR LAKE | Two people were arrested in Clear Lake Monday after a search warrant yielded more than 70 grams of marijuana, a grow operation and drug paraphernalia, police say.
James Linden Thornton, 69, and Penny Sue Frenz, 56, were arrested at a their residence in the 700 block of Fifth Place North, where Clear Lake police executed a search warrant about 2:20 p.m.
During the search warrant, police said Thornton was found to possess more than 42.5 grams of marijuana, while Frenz possessed more than 70 grams of the drug.
Police said Frenz was attempting to flush the marijuana down a toilet in her bedroom as officer entered the home.
A room in the home was discovered containing items which are used to grow marijuana. The criminal complaint said Thornton admitted to growing marijuana.
Both were charged with felony failure to affix drug stamp, two counts of controlled substance violations and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court dates have not been set. Both are being held on $15,000 bond.
