GARNER | A 17- and 19-year-old have been charged with felony first-degree robbery for attempting to rob two individuals at gunpoint during a party in rural Hancock County in July, law enforcement says.
Isaiah Zion Lewis, 17, and Kyren-Ray Daniel Valentine, 19, are accused of being armed with an “AR15-type rifle” and a handgun, a Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy wrote in criminal complaints.
The Globe Gazette is identifying Lewis as he is charged with a felony in adult court.
On or about July 31, Lewis is accused of tapping one victim on the shoulder with the rifle, court documents say, and Valentine is accused of putting the pistol in another victim’s chest.
“Both victims were told to empty their pockets,” the complaints state. “Neither victim had any property on them.”
Both were arrested in Britt on July 31 and have been appointed public defenders.
Lewis and Valentine have a preliminary hearing scheduled at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 11 in Hancock County District Court.
Valentine is being held without bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Lewis is being held in Central Iowa Juvenile Detention in Eldora.
