MASON CITY — An Algona woman received a suspended sentence, probation and jail time after being found guilty of two charges involving prescription fraud.
Melissa Ricke, 34, was found guilty by a Cerro Gordo County jury in July of one count of prohibited acts for a forged prescription and one count of possession of hydrocodone.
Ricke was given a 10- year suspended sentence on the prohibited acts conviction. A judge also sentenced her to serve three years probation, pay a $1,000 fine and $464.50 in court costs.
On the possession charge, Ricke was sentenced to two days in jail and a $315 fine. Her driving privileges were also revoked for 180 days.
The jury found Ricke not guilty of four other counts involving prescription and insurance fraud and possession of a controlled substance.
The charges were filed in October 2012 following an investigation by the Mason City Police Department.
